REVIEW: Clarisonic Mia 2

Hey, guys! I'm FINALLY done with my exams and have gotten back to blogging, so I thought I'd make a comeback with a review of one of the most hyped up skincare tools, the Clarisonic Mia 2.

WHAT IT CLAIMS

Unlike spinning devices, our patented sonic technology works with the skin's natural elasticity, oscillating at a sonic frequency that produces over 300 movements per second. The resulting flexing action works to loosen dirt and oil, removing deep seated impurities from pores and priming skin to better absorb topical treatments.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT

As some of you may know, I made a resolution at the start of this year to take better care of my skin. I recently started breaking out a lot due to exam related stress and at the same time, I came across numerous rave reviews of the Clarisonic devices. I decided to take the plunge and get myself a Mia 2, which is currently being offered at a special, reduced price.

I started using the Mia 2 once a day about a month ago with the Neutrogena Grapefruit Acne Wash cleanser. I didn't really want to use it with a new cleanser because then I wouldn't have been able to properly judge how the Mia 2 really affected my skin. The Mia 2 is different from the original Mia because it has two speed settings instead of one. All the Clarisonic devices come with interchangeable brush heads, although they all originally come with the sensitive brush head. It is recommended to change the brush head every three months or so.

The first thing that I noticed when I started using this was how smooth my skin felt! I have combination to oily skin so I'm prone to blackheads and a lot of uneven texture but ever since I started using the Mia 2, my skin has never felt smoother. I noticed that my makeup applied better and my moisturizer seemed to penetrate a lot deeper. While using this device, my skin also felt a lot cleaner! Since this does provide micro exfoliation, I imagine it'll help fade acne scars and hyper pigmentation over time.

I came across several reviews which complained of a purging phase when users broke out a lot, when they initially started using the Clarisonic devices. Since I was already breaking out like crazy, I didn't really notice my skin going through that bit.

I actually bought the Clarisonic for the purpose of getting rid of my breakouts. I didn't really notice that it got rid of my blemishes completely, although they did seem to reduce significantly. I still breakout here and there, although they're not as bad as before. My pores also seemed unaffected by the Clarisonic; they're still quite big!

I really love how portable the Mia 2 is! It comes in a variety of colors and designs to suit your taste. It is also safe to use in the shower. I got the Blue Moon edition, which I believe is limited edition and is $25 USD less than the other Mia 2s. The entire set contained a Mia 2, a sensitive brush head, a charger, a trial size cleanser and a Mia 2 Case.

Since Clarisonic and Sephora don't deliver to Pakistan, I bought mine from Rouge with amazing services! Priced at $149 USD, this is definitely an investment. It's worth it if you want to introduce something extra into your skincare routine, however it's not going to be clearing up any acne, if that's what you're expecting. I believe that the Clarisonic works best with an effective skincare regimen and products that really do work with your skin type. It's not a must-have-can't-live-without item, but it's a nice treat! Overall, I'm impressed with this device and I'm definitely going to alter my skincare routine to maximize it's benefits.
