REVIEW: Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask
I've never been one to spend loads on skincare. I mostly blow money on makeup but ever since the start of 2014, I've made a resolution to take better care of my skin since good skin means good application of makeup. And who doesn't want their makeup to look good?! Sticking with my New Year's resolution, I present to you a review of the Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask.
WHAT IT CLAIMS: When environmental toxins, dirt and debris get under your skin, it's waste-filtering system gets jammed, pores get clogged, skin gets cloudy. Nature's complexion clean up crew gets to the bottom of the skin's overcast condition and clears the way for it to act it's best. Active Charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out deep dwelling pore-cloggers, White China clay absorbs environmental toxins, Lechithin dissolves impurities. Without all the stuff down there, skin *breathes a sigh of relief*.
WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT: I did a LOT of research before I decided to purchase this because it came with a hefty price tag. All the reviews I read were good, so I decided to try it out for myself. I have combination-oily skin and I live in the city so my pores do get clogged easily resulting in breakouts and dull skin.
This mask is definitely not like other clay masks that I've tried. It dries very evenly and it has quite a nice, creamy consistency. It also doesn't strip my skin of all the oils making it feel all tight and dry. While it's on, this mask feels very soothing on the skin and it's also very easy to wash off. I wouldn't say I noticed an immediate difference in my skin, but after using it over a period of several weeks, my skin has definitely gotten softer, my pores have shrunk, my skin also looks clearer and produces less oil.
I like to use a thin layer of this mask once or twice a week, depending on how dull my skin looks. The Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask has a grey color and a slight fragrance which I find pleasing. It also makes my skin feel slightly tingly immediately after it's on, but the feeling disappears once it dries. Although this mask is aimed for all skin types, gals with skin on the drier skin should use it less often as compared to girls with oily skin.
PRICE AND AMOUNT: This is priced at USD$24 for 3.4 fl oz or 100 mL and USD$17 for 1.7 fl oz or 50 mL.
OVERALL VIEW: This has quickly become my favorite mask as it has improved the overall appearance of my skin. I wish it weren't so expensive but I'm definitely going to shell out more money for this once I run out. I'm also going to try more products from Origins, as the Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask has really impressed me.
