I LOVE Urban Decay eyeshadows. I feel they are easily one of the best eyeshadows out there. They are on par (or even better) than the infamous MAC eyeshadows. Today, I'm going to be reviewing the Urban Decay Ammo Palette.
WHAT IT CLAIMS: A relaunch of one of our most iconic palettes EVER! This set features 10 best selling eyeshadow shades- from neutral to vivid to all out smokey.
WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT: As I mentioned above, I think Urban Decay does some of the best eyeshadows ever. This palette is no different. It contains a good array of eyeshadows and comes in a little cardboard case. This palette is small- about the size of my hand, making to perfect for travel. I wish it could've been made of metal instead, just so it could be a bit more sturdy, but I don't have any qualm with the cardboard packaging.
This palette contains 10 eyeshadows, namely Smog, Mildew, Oil Slick, Last Call, Chopper, Maui Wowie, Shattered, Polyester Bride, Grifter and Sin. Smog and Sin are part of the Naked Palette and Chopper is part of the Naked 2 palette. The size of each eyeshadow is 0.8 g whereas the size of a full size Urban Decay eyeshadow is 0.13 g.
Smog is described as a deep, coppery bronze shimmer. It has an amazing pigmentation, a nice, buttery texture and minimal fallout. The shimmer isn't gritty at all. This is an excellent shade.
Mildew, a mossy green shimmer with gold shift is a gorgeous shade as well. Again, it has amazing pigmentation, a soft texture and almost zero fallout.
Oil Slick is a black matte with silver micro-glitter. It isn't the darkest black I've seen, it's almost grey once it's blended out. The silver micro-glitter is a bit gritty, but nothing too troublesome. This shade isn't as soft and buttery as Mildew and Smog, but the difference is barely there.
Last Call, which is described as a metallic plum has wonderful pigmentation and again applied nicely.
Chopper is a copper shimmer with silver micro-glitter. I don't really notice the silver micro-glitter once I apply this on the lid. Nonetheless, it's a great shade with awesome pigmentation and a nice texture.
Maui Wowie is described as a metallic golden beige with silver glitter. The sliver glitter isn't noticable once applied to the lid, but like all the other shades, it has great color payoff and texture.
Shattered, a turquoise shimmer with gold shift, has a buttery smooth texture and negligible fallout. It has good pigmentation as well, but I feel as if it's a little less pigmented once compared to other colors in the palette, such as Smog or Chopper.
Polyester Bride is said to be a white snow shimmer with silver micro-glitter. This shade has slightly weaker pigmentation and as with Chopper and Maui Wowie, the glitter isn't crazy visible.
Grifter is a sheer lavender shimmer with silver micro-glitter. This color looks so gorgeous in the pan but it doesn't have great pigmentation, as was expected. The glitter disappears once applied on the lid and is ever so slightly gritty.
Sin is described as a champagne shimmer. It has excellent pigmentation, applied smoothly, has a soft texture and almost no fallout.
SWATCHES (FROM LEFT TO RIGHT): SMOG, MILDEW, OIL SLICK, LAST CALL AND CHOPPER
SWATCHES (FROM LEFT TO RIGHT): MAUI WOWIE, SHATTERED, POLYESTER BRIDE, GRIFTER AND SIN
I really love this palette and it is an excellent value for the price, if you're into shimmery and glittery eyeshadows.
PRICE AND AMOUNT: This palette is priced at USD $34 and it contains 10 eyeshadows, each 0.8 grams.
-All the shades have nice pigmentation, texture and minimal fallout
-It is perfect for travel
YOU'LL HATE IT BECAUSE:
-You don't like shimmery shades
OVERALL VIEW: This is a great palette to have if you want to try some of Urban Decay's eyeshadows or if you're really into shimmery shades and colors. Almost every color lived up to expectation for me.
