REVIEW: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12- Hour Blush in Natural Beauty
Did anyone say Snow White blush? Yes, I am talking about the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12- Hour Blush in Natural Beauty. It's been all over the internet that this blush is being considered the Snow White blush because it gives you "cheeks as rosy as blood". And so, when a makeup item is being compared to a fairy tale, you know I'm going to have to get it.
WHAT IT CLAIMS: A long wearing, supremely soft blush infused with Amazonian clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon river and naturally baked by the sun.
This 12 hour blush universally benefits all skin types for a fade- free, flawless finish in shades ranging from soft to vivid and matte to shimmer to suit a wide variety of skin tones.
Amazonian clay minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep product in place while also hydrating the skin naturally to restore moisture, reducing the appearance of dry, flaky skin.
WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT: I'm going to start off by saying that I think the whole Amazonian clay bit is gimmicky. I mean, it might be beneficial to some skin types, but I really don't think it's some magical thing that can control oil and be moisturizing at the same time.
I really love the cute packaging, I think it's just adorable! I like how every case is color coordinated and if you want to pop the pan into a palette, you can do so without any hassle because there's a little hole in the back in which you just stick a thin needle and the blush pan comes right out. The packaging is really sturdy and it has some nice weight to it, giving it an expensive feel.
Natural Beauty is described as a "rosy red" by tartecosmetics.com and as a "muted strawberry red" on sephora.com. It definitely looks more red in the pan, but once it's on your cheeks, it gives a very beautiful, flushed color, almost like you've just had a vigorous workout or you've been playing in the snow. It has a slight sheen to it, so it's not perfectly matte.
This blush is nicely pigmented. It doesn't really show up much when you swatch it with your fingers, but when you use it with a brush, the color payoff is awesome. Just a couple of swipes will get this blush to show up even on the darkest of skin tones. On my medium skin (NC30 to NC40 in MAC) I only need to swipe this blush once or twice if I'm light handed to get it to show up.
Longevity of this blush is great. It definitely lasts a long time on my face, say about 7 hours before I notice that it starts to fade a little. For my oily skin, I consider it to be long lasting.
PRICE AND AMOUNT: This is priced at USD $26.00 and it contains 0.2 oz or 5.6 grams of product.
OVERALL VIEW: At USD $26.00, these blushes are hella expensive! If you don't mind the splurge, I highly recommend you check out these blushes and if you're especially into that Snow White "rosy cheeks" kinda thing, then Natural Beauty is the blush for you. I'm definitely loving this particular color, especially for the winter time.
