REVIEW: Sleek MakeUP Face Contour Kit in Medium

Hey, guys. So, I recently posted my 2013 beauty favorites and if you've already gone through that, than you'll know that the Sleek MakeUP Face Contour Kit in Medium made the cut as my favorite highlighter and contour powder. If you want a more in depth review of this product, keep on reading!

WHAT IT CLAIMS: Face contour kit is one of our most iconic products at Sleek MakeUP. A duo compact with a contour powder perfect for contouring cheekbones and a shimmer highlighter perfect for illuminating your face giving you that perfect, flawless finish. Face contour kit in medium is ideal for medium skin tones.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT: 2013 was the year that I ventured into sculpting and highlighting my face. I still need a lot of practice with this particular technique, but I do think I'm getting the hang of it. When I got into contouring and highlighting, I wanted to try a good product that wouldn't blow a hole in my wallet. After reading a couple of reviews online, I ended up buying the Sleek MakeUP Face Contour Kit in Medium.

The face contour kit comes in three shades: light, medium and dark. I got the shade medium because although my skin tends to vary in coloring, it is still medium.

I really like Sleek MakeUP's sturdy and classy packaging. It doesn't look or feel cheap whatsoever and since it is so sturdy and comes with a mirror, it's perfect for travel. However, some say that it can be hard to open and sometimes even results in nail breaking!

The contour shade is a matte, medium dark brown with just a slight hint of orange undertones. The undertones aren't obvious, so it doesn't make me look muddy at all. It adds a beautiful warmth to my face and it has excellent pigmentation. The contour can also work as an overall face bronzer if you are very light handed and it definitely works as a contour shade because it is so pigmented. The contour shade looks as if it might have some shimmer in my swatch, but I assure you it's completely matte. The shimmer was left behind from a previous product that I had swatched.

The highlight shade is a gorgeous, shimmery peachy gold. It's not too pink that it'll look off on skin tones with very yellow undertones nor is it too gold that it'll look weird on skin with very pink undertones. The highlighter has amazing pigmentation as well, so you definitely need to be light handed when working with this shade. The shimmer is also very finely milled so that it's not chunky or too obvious on your face; it definitely gives my face an "inner glow" when I use this on top of my cheekbones. The shimmer also doesn't accentuate my large pores.

SWATCHES FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: MEDIUM CONTOUR SHADE, MEDIUM HIGHLIGHT SHADE

Staying power of both the contour shade and highlighter is good. It lasts on my oily skin for about 4-5 hours after which it starts to fade and needs to be touched up. The shimmer also travels down on my face as the day progresses, although I find that's the case with most shimmery products.

PRICE AND AMOUNT: This is priced at USD $9.99 and it contains 14 grams or 0.48 oz of product.

AVAILABILITY: You can purchase this from www.sleekmakeup.com and they ship internationally.

YOU'LL LOVE IT BECAUSE:

-The face contour kit comes in 3 different shades to suit your skin tone

-The contour shade doesn't make you look muddy

-The highlight shade doesn't accentuate your pores

-It is long lasting

-It is cheap

-Both the shades have good pigmentation

YOU'LL HATE IT BECAUSE:

-You find the packaging a bit troublesome

OVERALL VIEW: If you're just starting out in highlighting and contouring your face, then I highly recommend you check this little bundle of joy out. It's amazing quality and cheap too!
