REVIEW: Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation
Hi, guys. Today, I'm going to be reviewing one of my most used and coveted foundations. It is the Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation.
WHAT IT CLAIMS: The HD range includes complexion products designed for the new needs of high definition image using very fine ingredients for an invisible, natural makeup finish.
WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT: If you're a makeup addict like me, then this foundation certainly needs no introduction. It is probably one of the most talked about foundations. There have been many who've loved it and many who hated it, but I decided to give this foundation a go because I needed a foundation that would photograph well and this seemed to be advertising that aspect immensely.
I got the shade 128 Almond. It is a medium, neutral shade. For reference, at the time I got this foundation, I was a bit tanned because I was on vacation- think MAC NC40 but less yellow. I am a little paler now, so I definitely need to mix this with a lighter foundation to achieve a good match for my skintone. The swatch that I've posted makes it look a lot lighter than it really is.
The MUFE HD foundation comes in a plastic bottle with a pump which is always a really nice thing. I like the packaging, mainly because I'm such a klutz and so prone to breaking and spilling things. The bottle is very classy looking.
I would say that this foundation has a semi- matte, medium coverage that is definitely buildable. I normally need about two to three thin layers of this foundation to fully cover the minor acne scarring on my cheeks. It is a really lightweight foundation; you can barely tell that you have anything on your face. It doesn't get cakey at all and as I mentioned previously, it is buildable. However, I still won't skip a concealer when I'm going for a truly flawless face.
Since it is winter right now, my skin has been feeling more on the drier side. I have combination skin and during the summer when my skin gets particularly oily, I need to set this foundation with a setting powder and even blotting it a couple times when I wear this for longer periods of time. During the winter, I don't need to use a lot of setting powder, although a light dusting of it is still necessary. It easily lasts for most of the day on my skin.
This foundation does photograph amazingly! It gives my skin a soft focus effect and therefore makes it look better than it really is. It doesn't give me any sort of white cast and it imparts a beautiful glow without looking like my face has had an oil spill.
I like to use this with my Sigma F80 brush to buff it into my face. On areas where I need more coverage, I use a stippling motion.
The MUFE HD foundation doesn't have any unpleasant smell whatsoever and it comes in an amazing selection of 26 shades. It is one of the more expensive foundations, but it can easily last you up to eight months, give or take a couple months depending on how often you use it.
PRICE AND AMOUNT: This is priced at USD $42 and it contains 30 mL or 1.01 fl oz.
AVAILABILITY: You can purchase this directly from www.makeupforever.com. If shipping to your destination is unavailable, you can check out your local Sephora or order from a variety of facebook stores.
