REVIEW: Laura Mercier Foundation Primer- Oil Free

Hey, guys. I am so sorry that I haven't posted at all this past week. I've just been so busy that I haven't had any time to myself at all. Hopefully, I won't be as busy this week and I'll be able to pump out some reviews.

Today, I'm going to be reviewing my first primer, the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Oil- Free.

WHAT IT CLAIMS: Oil controlling ingredients ensure long wear and flawless application. Meant to be used prior to foundation, creating an invisible layer which acts as a buffer to outside elements. Leaves makeup looking fresh and color true the entire day.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT: I got this a couple months ago and I'm so glad that I did! It was my first primer and I had to choose between this one and the Smashbox Photoready one. I decided to go with this one just because the Smashbox primer had a lot of mixed reviews. I got the 1.0 oz travel size, although you can get a bigger, 1.7 oz size as well.

The Laura Mercier primers come in three different types: hydrating, radiance and oil free. Since I tend to get really oily in the humid summer months, I decided to go with the oil free formula. I can honestly say that it does keep my skin matte for a longer period of time. I do have to blot my skin about 2- 3 times, but that's only when I plan on wearing my makeup for the whole day. For me, that's a big deal as normally, I get oily within an hour or two.

Ever since I started using this, I have noticed that the wear time of my foundation has increased. It stays on my face longer without oxidizing or fading. That's a lifesaver for me because I have oily skin and because of this, my foundation usually has a tendency to slip and slide all over the place.

The Laura Mercier foundation primer in oil free does blur my pores to a certain extent. I wouldn't say it magically vanishes all my pores since I have rather huge ones around my nose, but it does make them look a little smaller.

I especially like that this primer comes in a squeeze tube and two different sizes as it is a little expensive and I wouldn't be happy purchasing a huge tube of expensive primer that I just don't end up liking.

If you compare other high end primers such as the Too Faced Primed and Poreless Primer (1.0 oz for $30.00 USD) and the Benefit POREfessional (0.75 oz for $30.00 USD), you're actually getting a pretty good deal for the Laura Mercier primers. Since you only need to use a pea sized amount each time, it will probably last you a month or so, depending on how often you use it.

PRICE AND AMOUNT: The 1.0 oz primer is priced at $19.50 USD and the 1.7 oz tube is priced at $32.00 USD.

AVAILABILITY: I got mine from Bloomingdale's, Dubai. You can purchase this from  Sephoras which carry Laura Mercier or you can order online. For people in Pakistan, you can purchase this from any online facebook store.

YOU'LL LOVE IT BECAUSE:

-It keeps your skin matte for a longer period of time

-It prevents your foundation from oxidizing

-It prevents your foundation from fading

-It minimizes the appearance of your pores

-It is actually cheaper when compared to other high end primers

YOU'LL HATE IT BECAUSE:

-You have extremely oily skin and this doesn't seem to control it

-It doesn't minimize your pores completely

OVERALL VIEW: This is a great primer for those of us with oily skin. If you are looking into high end primers, then I really suggest you start off with the Laura Mercier ones since they come in different types, different sizes and they are relatively cheaper when compared to other high end primers. Have you tried the Laura Mercier primers? What do you think of them?
