REVIEW: the Balm Hot Mama Shadow/ Blush

One of the blushes that I've been coveting for some time now is the infamous Nars Orgasm blush. The only thing that has stopped me from getting it is the fact that since it is of sheer formulation, people of medium to dark coloring might have trouble having it show up on their skin. I recently bought the Balm Hot Mama Shadow/ Blush because I've read that it's in the same category as that of Nars Orgasm, apart from the fact that it really isn't sheer at all.

WHAT IT CLAIMS: An all- in- one essential, this smart shadow, beautiful blush and subtle highlighter is tucked inside a go anywhere compact. This peachy pink hue adds a splash of color to your cheeks and a hint of shimmer to your lids, while illuminating your finest features.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT: The Balm Cosmetics is known for their very retro packaging. I think it's quite cute and sturdy and since the packaging is mainly cardboard, it means it acts as a shock absorber if the product ever falls.

The color is definitely a close dupe to Nars Orgasm. Unfortunately, I don't own Orgasm, so I can't really show you a comparison but from what I've looked at online, it really is very similar. It is a peachy pink, almost rose gold color with a lot of micro shimmer running through it. The color is just so gorgeous! It's unlike anything that I have in my collection at the moment.

The Balm Hot Mama blush is definitely not sheer! In fact, it is actually very pigmented. If you are heavy handed with blush, then you need to be careful when applying this because you can go overboard very quickly. For me, that is great because it means that I don't need to keep on building it up. I also don't have a problem with this showing up on my skin. For reference, I range from NC 30 to NC 40 in MAC. For people who are darker than NC 40, I imagine that it will be more of a highlight than a blush, but you might be able to get the color to show up if you build it up.

The product itself is very soft and blends beautifully. I've only used this as a blush because it gives my cheeks a very healthy and pretty glow but I think it would be just as beautiful as an eye shadow.

On my oily skin, this blush holds up surprisingly well. I'm used to having blushes fade on me after the 4th hour mark most of the time, but this blush lasts about 8 hours on my skin! That is amazing! It does fade throughout the day, leaving behind some of the golden micro shimmer, but I can still see some of the color even after 8 hours. For some people, the micro shimmer might be a turn off since it can emphasize pores, but I have HUGE pores and it doesn't accentuate them at all.

PRICE AND AMOUNT: This is priced at $20 USD and it contains 7.08 grams or 0.25 oz of product.

AVAILABILITY: I got this from Makeup & Accessories. You can also get it from the Balm Cosmetics and they ship worldwide.

YOU'LL LOVE IT BECAUSE:

-You are looking for a close dupe for Nars Orgasm and this fits the bill

-It blends nicely

-It is pigmented

-It is a multi purpose product

-Wear time is phenomenal

YOU'LL HATE IT BECAUSE:

-The micro shimmer accentuates your pores

OVERALL VIEW: I am in love with this product! The color is just so incredibly beautiful and even though it seems a little expensive, you also get a large amount of product. I think I'm definitely going to check out other products by the Balm.
