5 Foods For Healthy Skin

No matter how many things you slather on your face, you KNOW that good skin starts from healthy eating. Although makeup can help mask imperfections and flaws, it actually looks better if you already have good skin to start with. Here is a list of five of the best foods which can help give you healthy, glowing skin. Please bear in mind that you won't see results overnight; you will need to give some time for everything to get absorbed and adjusted in your system. 





1) LOW FAT DAIRY PRODUCTS:


Vitamin A is one of the most important components to healthy skin and low fat dairy products are a rich source of this vitamin. Try your best to stick to low fat yogurt instead of milk because while yogurt is loaded with proteins and vitamins, all of which contribute to good skin, milk contains added hormones and sugar which can result in acne and clogged pores.



2) BERRIES:


Whether it's blueberries, strawberries, blackberries or even raspberries, all of the above are jam packed with antioxidant properties. Antioxidants help prevent our cells from excessive damage done by free radicals, hence preventing premature aging and giving more youthful, healthy skin.  


3) FATTY ACIDS:


Okay so technically, this isn't exactly a food, but foods rich in fatty acids are essential for good skin. Fatty acids help in keeping our skin look more plump and soft. They are responsible for healthy cell membranes and overall healthy functioning of the heart. Foods rich in fatty acids include salmon, walnuts and flax seeds. Keep in mind that there are two types of fatty acids: saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. The unsaturated fatty acids are the ones that are beneficial to our health whereas the saturated fatty acids are harmful. 



4)GREEN TEA:


Maybe I should dedicate a whole different article to this little wonder. Green tea is one of my favorite drinks and it has some of the most wonderful, beneficial properties ever! Just like berries, green tea is loaded with antioxidants and it has some anti inflamatory properties as well. Along with the obvious benefits for the skin, studies have shown that green tea can even prevent or reduce the risk of cancer. 




5) WATER:


Probably one of the most important things when it comes to good health in general, water is also extremely beneficial for gorgeous skin. It flushes out toxins from our body, delivers nutrients to our cells and helps keep our skin looking firmer and clearer. Drinking atleast eight glasses of water is a must for great skin and don't forget, most fruits and veggies are about 75% water, so they're great to take in as well.
