REVIEW: Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Babydoll
Several years ago, the YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils mascara was released and it caused quite the storm on youtube and the blogosphere. Everyone seemed to be raving about that luxurious mascara. Now, YSL has released a different version of that same mascara and it's called the YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Babydoll. It's supposed to make your eyes look bigger, giving you a doll- eyed look. Does this mascara live up to the previous version? Keep on reading to find out!
WHAT IT CLAIMS: A unique mascara with a patented formula that provides defined volume, lash- by- lash separation and up to 24- hour wear.
Baby Doll creates a full open- eye effect with lifting and separating lashes. The patented formula creates long lasting volume and intense color that is evenly dispersed with no clumps, flakes or smudges for up to 24 hours.
Reach every lash, including the baby ones for a full fringe effect. The brush has duo- length bristles that adapt to all lash types, separating, coating and multiplying lashes for defined volume.
WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT: YSL has made an essay- length number of claims here. At first, I thought this mascara would be nothing too special. After all, any product which makes such sky high claims is almost always not what it's expected to be. However, I can honestly say that most of the claims about this mascara are true.
First of all, let's talk about the packaging. I'm absolutely in love with it! It is just so nice and luxurious and you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to the packaging of this mascara. The wand is long and made up of small, rubber bristles. The mascara itself is heavily frangranced. Personally, that doesn't bother me because I quite like the smell of it, but it might be a turn off for some other people.
Now, this mascara makes my lashes look longer and more curled. As you can see, my natural lashes are quite straight so I'm always looking for a mascara which can add some curl to them and this does just that. It also gives my lashes some volume. It's not the best volumizing mascara I've used, but it does do a good job of it. It also holds the curl of my lashes for a long time. I wouldn't necessarily say it lasts 24 hours, but it easily lasts throughout a 9 to 5 work day.
What I absolutely love about this mascara is that it doesn't clump my lashes and make them all crunchy! I hate when my eye lashes get all clumped up together and crunchy giving a very unnatural look. This mascara makes my lashes look more flared out and fluttery and I am head over heels for this mascara just for that.
The color pay off is good, but not great. I've used drugstore mascaras which have more intense color than this one. It's not as noticable on my lashes since they are dark anyway, however beauties with blond or brown eye lashes might find that this mascara doesn't make their fringe very dark.
EYE LASHES WITH THE YSL MASCARA VLUME EFFECT FAUX CILS BABYDOLL
One of the things I'm disappointed about regarding this product is that it's not waterproof! I really hope YSL comes up with a waterproof version of this mascara as not everyone can take the time to keep on reapplying this mascara if it runs off.
