REVIEW: MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo

I love matte lipsticks! I know there's not a lot of people out there who like them, but I for one, adore them. I was on vacation a couple weeks back and I knew that even if I didn't buy anything special, I definitely needed to get my hands on the MAC's Ruby Woo lipstick.

WHAT IT CLAIMS: Color plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street. What made MAC famous. Very matte, vivid blue red.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT: Ruby Woo is probably the most famous lipstick in the world. If there's one lipstick name you know, it's probably Ruby Woo. I had been lusting over this lipstick for about a year, but really didn't buy it because of the expensive price tag. I tried my best to look for drugstore dupes, but I never came across any lipstick that would even come close to this one.

The packaging is really nice. It's just standard MAC packaging, but I love it. The lipstick itself has a light, vanilla scent but it's undetectable once applied to the lips.

MAC's Ruby Woo is a really blue based red. It's a universally flattering color and it looks absolutely stunning on my NC30 to NC40 skin tone. It makes me look really sexy and sultry, which is something relatively new for me, but I'm liking the look nonetheless. In my opinion, it's probably the perfect red. Not too orange and not too wine colored. Since it's blue based, it makes your teeth look a bit whiter. It is also extremely pigmented! One swipe will get most of the color on your lips.

This lipstick is really matte. It's probably the most matte lipstick I've tried so far. Due to this, it has a tendency to drag on the lips and sink into fine lines. Therefore, exfoliating before application is a must.

Lasting power is amazing! It easily lasts up to 6 hours without a lip liner. I'm sure with a lip liner, it would last even longer. It doesn't really migrate away from my lips because it's so matte so I can get away without using a lip liner.

Since this lipstick is so matte, it will definitely dry out your lips. So, you'll need to make sure to condition and prep your lips before application. I personally like to apply a little bit of lip balm before I apply the lipstick. That way, it doesn't dry out my lips as much.

PRICE AND AMOUNT: I got this for 95 AED and this contains 3 grams or 0.1 oz of product.

AVAILABILITY: I got this from a MAC store in Dubai, but you can also easily purchase this from www.just4girls.pkWishlist or BeautyInBudget4U. You can even check out Agha's Super Market or EBCO in Karachi. Folks outside of Pakistan, check out your local MAC store or
