Hello my lovely people! Hope you're all enjoying the summer sun, unless you live below the equator. Then, I hope you're enjoying your winter!
Today, I'm going to be reviewing the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer, which were released a couple months ago. I saw them on my all-time favorite online shopping website and I thought, why not? Keep on reading to find out what I think of it.
WHAT IT CLAIMS: It's the end of color as you know it! The intense, rich color of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin-smooth shine. It's neither a lipstick nor a lipgloss.... It's better than both! Long live the color! Available in eight shades.
WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT: Lip lacquers are a fairly new thing in the beauty world. They're supposed to have the longevity of a lipstick and the shine of a lipgloss. The Rimmel Lip Lacquers were released a couple months back and I knew I had to have them. I got the color 101 Celestial.
The packaging is awesome! Rimmel sometimes doesn't have nice packaging, but I love this! It comes in a standard lipgloss tube, with a doe foot applicator. The applicator has a little dent on it to collect enough of the product so you don't need to keep dipping the aplicator inside the tube. The top part of the tube has a really funky, cosmic design which I love! I think it's supposed to look like a meteor. Definitely an A+ for packaging.
The pigmentation of these is AMAZING! Just one swipe and you get most of the color on your lips. A second swipe, and your lips will be fully opaque with the color. They have a semi-matte finish which I love and the consistency of the product is really creamy. Lasting power is good, nothing too crazy. It lasts for about 3-4 hours and it transfers like crazy. It fades through eating and drinking, so you would need to reapply after that. It also fades away nicely, leaving a hint of color on your lips, so you don't have to worry about it looking patchy as it fades.
Since it has a semi-matte finish, it isn't very hydrating. In fact, it will make your lips a little dry after a couple of hours, so make sure you moisturize your lips BEFORE you apply this. Also, it smells horrible! It has a nasty, plastic smell in the tube, but once you apply it on your lips, it disappears after some time.
The shade Celestial is beautiful, muted pink which would look absolutely stunning on fair to medium skin tones and it's great for every day wear.
PRICE AND AMOUNT: I got this for 975 PKR which is about 5.99 GBP. You get 0.18 fl oz or 5.5 mL of product.
AVAILABILITY: I got this from www.just4girls.pk and you can also find them in leading stores in Pakistan. For people in the USA and UK, check out your local Target and Boots.
YOU'LL LOVE IT BECAUSE:
-It is very pigmented
-You are looking for a lip product with a matte finish
-You don't mind reapplying it every couple of hours
-It is inexpensive
-It is easily available
YOU'LL HATE IT BECAUSE:
-It has a limited shade range
-You find the smell really off-putting
-You find it drying on your lips
-It's not very longlasting
OVERALL VIEW: I do love this product and I will definitely try to pick up some more shades, however they aren't something that I would wear when I need my makeup to last. Overall, I'm quite impressed with the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer.
